这句话的翻译我一直觉得怪怪的。
第一,Yet的语气没有翻出来。
Agreed; but the transition from the previous sentence, which is sarcastic,
is more complex than can be expressed in one phrase.
第二,I ask you not to spare me,not的否定应该是落在spare me上面。
Actually, this in more contemporary English would be "I don't ask you to spare
me." SVO not = S not VO; it's an older sentence structure.
Even if this were not the case, I would still disagree: In English, we often
see things like: not to = to not, try and = try to
第三,总觉得“我不求你...只求你...”的语气跟整个语境不太搭。
Someone with life and sentience asking for his own demise seems stranger.
我的试译为:
