关于acknowledge的字义,我觉得应该查询一下
字典的解释,最好是那种英文解释英文的纯英文
字典。另外,也应该区别一下英语字典跟美语字
典可能有些微的字义差异。实际上澳洲英语的字
义可能会跟英国英语的差别,来得比美国英语的
差别更大。
由于中美建交公报是“美式英文─简体中文”的
两种文本,所以在确认外交用语的字义上若要做
到精确、有效的程度,就应该回归到正确的语言
字典。下面我查了4个字典,其中科林氏字典有
区分美国用法和英国用法,感觉上美国的用法,
acknowledge的字义似乎确实比较没有“承认”
的意味,而是“接受、了解”的意味较重。不过
其他3种字典则有些有查询到“承认”的意思。
我觉得这可能要对美国文学与美式英语用法进行
更深入研究,会比较能得出具体有益的诠释。
