大家晚上好，第一次在这里发文不太会排版，有参考了其他文章不知道这样行不行
这两句我大概知道他在讲什么，但有些字凑在一起就感觉怪怪的，不太会翻...
请问能怎么翻呢?

但是不懂跟上下文有什么关系、为什么会放在这里
还有 the paradoxical law of all sentiments having terror as a basis.
意思应该像是:以恐惧为基础的矛盾法则(因为恐惧而产生的矛盾现象)
不知道对不对，或是怎么翻比较好
还想请教大家，看英文的时候有不会的句子都怎么处理?(查完单字后还是不懂的情况)

这文稿写的颇口语的，for why should I not so term it? 这句是有点跳TONE跳出原句，像是心中OS的概念，... my superstition 直接接上 served mainly... 看起来就不奇怪了还有 a sickening of the heart... 是在说那种感受是如何如何，个人真心不喜欢这类文笔。（ˊ_>ˋ）

其实如果只是自己兴趣读的时候 不需要每个字都翻译。看过懂意思就好 因为有很多意思是无法真正用另外一种语言表达的。"For why should i not so term it" 我觉得是个补充词 。他先称自己的感觉/想法是一种迷信，然后再加上一句"啊不是迷信的话是什么？" 就是那句话大概的意思There was a dreariness of thought which no goading ofimagination could torture into anything of sublime这句话他用很生动的方法来表达。 “有一种沈重的想法不管如何想像都无法 转变成好的想法。” Torture into这边的意思应该是“转变”。他使用“torture”这个词原因是因为前面用 “goading”(屠宰场电击动物的行为）。表示他不管使用如何极端的想像力都无法改善这种不好的想法。
