Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that he will desert the project to build a high-sp
eed rail link from San Francisco to Los Angeles that had been a priority of hi
s predecessor Jerry Brown.
Newsom made the surprise announcement on Tuesday in his first State of the Sta
te speech in Sacramento.
The original goal of connecting San Francisco with Los Angeles “would cost to
o much and take too long," Newsom said.
An estimate published last year said it would cost $77 billion to construct th
e bullet train and would not be complete until 2033.
Rather than continue with the vision of an SF-to-LA route, Newsom instead said
he would pursue a humbler goal of building a train line in the Central Valley
from Merced to Bakersfield.
The cities have great potential, Newsom said, who denied that he was eliminati
ng an expensive project in favor of a "train to nowhere."

2019-02-13 15:52:00美国基本建设发包问题很多, 有点像是建商在抽管理费, 每个发包几乎都是纳税人买单建商稳赚. 有兴趣可以去找纽约时报报导的纽约地铁造价是世界平均的7倍. 其中一段, 一英里造价35亿美元.
