单字分开查询又因为是古英文 不知从何查起
请问有什么这方面的技巧或是诀窍吗？

我平常没有读古英文，所以这也是我现查(临时发现)现学现卖。你用Google Books(books.google.com)去查，找近代的书，有的已经改成现代用字。有的书有注解"硬"是要个别字的话，那么字典, Wikipedia也查。比如：https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oaten_pipe
