英文,语言学的基本用语(term)
http://www-personal.umich.edu/~rqueen/Personal/Linguistic_terms.html
什么是基本,大家自己比对即可,和某人的硬是不同。
再教英文
Letter: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letter
In some languages, for example English, we write a letter for each member
of the alphabet. Letters symbolise different sounds when the language
is spoken.
Alphabet: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alphabet
An alphabet is a writing system, a list of symbols for writing.
The basic symbols in an alphabet are called letters.
Word: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Word
A word is something spoken by the mouth, that can be pronounced.
It is also a collection of letters used together to try to
communicate a meaning, and these can also usually be pronounced.
A logogram is also a word.
Syllable: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syllable
A syllable is a unit of pronunciation uttered without interruption,[1]
loosely, a single sound.[2] All words are made from at least one syllable.
Character: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Character
Chinese character: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_character
Chinese characters are symbols used to write the Chinese and
Japanese languages.
Logogram: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logogram
A logogram or logograph is a grapheme (or symbol) which
represents a word or morpheme in a language. This is contrasted
with a phonogram, which is a symbol that represents a sound.
从上面的解释得知:
letter = character。
alphabet 可书写符号的集合。其中的基础符号称为是letter。
word 是一个带meaning 的 letter 集合。
Syllable 一个不间断地发音的发音单元。
logogram = word 在某些语言中,如中文。
Character 除了是letter 外,中文字(中文的alphabet) 也是character。
从定义开始:
英文的linguistics 中不使用character这字眼,使用letter。
中文只有word,没有letter。葡萄是由两个words 组成的新word。
所以,中文只有断词,不会有人说断字的。
Syllable的时候又到了,哪么照定义来,
水: ㄕㄨㄟˇ 有四个不间断地发音的发单元。
water: wa ter 有两个不间断地发音的发单元。
哪怎么变成以中文为一字为一Syllable?
因为中英文word 的发音方式不同,故不采取英文的定义,在中文中
改定义(redefine) 为一字为一Syllable。
这就是,找拉丁字语言来救中文有趣的地方了。

难道某C对人不对事就不明显?版主自己带头对人不对事吧?
