ELBOW INJURY FORCES NICK KYRGIOS TO WITHDRAW FROM INDIAN WELLS
by: ZACH COHEN | March 09, 2018
Nick Kyrgios seemed ready to take on Daniil Medvedev in his opening match on S
aturday, but instead it'll be Medvedev facing lucky loser Matteo Berrettini.
Kyrgios, who hasn't played in an ATP match since losing to Grigor Dimitrov in
the Australian Open, announced his withdrawal from Indian Wells on Friday. The
22-year-old is dealing with pain in his right elbow, which also forced him to
withdraw from Acapulco.
It's a tough break for the Australian, who was one of the more exciting storie
s at last year's BNP Paribas Open. Kyrgios made a splash by defeating 12-time
Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the fourth round. The world No. 20 did,
however, have to withdraw from his next match against eventual champion Roger
Federer.
It's also rough news for Kyrgios because he was playing well to start off 2018
. He won the crown in Brisbane and had seemingly turned a corner in his young
career.
Kyrgios 原本周六要对上Daniil Medvedev
但最后却是Daniil Medvedev 对上lucky loser Matteo Berrettini.
因为手肘的伤 迫使他退出印地安泉跟上周的Acapulco
去年第四轮曾在此地击败德约
但要对上费德勒前却退赛了
年初其实Kyrgios 状态很好曾拿过布里斯本冠军
