[心得] We Real Cool

I want to show my affirmation for the spirit of non-conformity of the
lyric-centre in the poem. Yes, they are really cool in this aspect. But still
their behaviour were very immature.
'We left school'. You could think of the image: seven students playing pool
in Golden Shovel in their uniform, not going to school. I wonder if these
teenagers were able to figure out what they were doing. I want to compare them
to Biff in 'The Death of A Salesman'. In this play, Biff really did not like
the maddening competition in the society. He prefered to operate his farm in
the nature instead of staying in the environment where he could earn much more.
This was his rational choice. But how about these boys? They just irresponsibly
left school. Are they mature enough to decide that they really do not want
to be educated?
'We thin gin'; 'We jazz june'. I think non-conformity can be expressed, for
sure, but there are some universal value that we must pay respect to. Let me
assume that 'jazz june' really relate to sex. Not only that it would be crime,
but also a terrible moral depression. Conformity and non-conformity became a
minor issue now. This non-conformity should be shown in a high ethical
framework.
As they mentioned, 'we die soon'. I totally disagree with the idea of to
show your disrespect to the conformity just because you want to do so. There
should be some clear points that we should figure out in the philosophical
and critical thinking, eg, to abandon any segmentation because all humans
are equal. B.T. Washington or Du Bois as I learn in the American Literature
did well in this asepct. This could possibly be a applicable step for the
blacks to fight for their rights.
I do not want to put the entire poem in the post-colonial context for
interpretation. I just want to say that there should be univeral affairs that
we should not do. It could never be logical to say 'I kill him to show my
non-conformity'. This was merely a rationalization and the same case in 'jazz
june'.
But still there is one thing thing that I could agree with them: graffini
was great in terms of de-normalization. The rule that we write black on white
paper is just a habit but not natural. My comment is that some petty rules that
we conform to really deserves to destructure.
