看到一部影片在讲到狗，
里面讲到一句，
Most of the time,he helps by laying in the shade,
翻译是大多时候，狗狗都躺在阴凉处。
这个help by是什么用法，还是它有其他的意思?
如果是那句少了helps by 变成只有 he lies in the shade,
语意上会有什么差别吗?

看起来资讯不太足，不过感觉是在讲狗狗帮助了什么，以躺在阴凉处的方式 (by...)而且是不是应该是 lying?
