转换中英思维——以深情的李奥纳多为例

东西方的文化差异极大，许多中文用法转换成英文时要跳脱中文思维。今天研读研究所恩
师著作Introduction to Chinese-English Translation(书林出版) ，看到一段很实用的
文字:
The student who sits down for an exam and says to himself “成败在此一举”
which, translated with formal correspondence, becomes “success or failure
depends on this,” a very clumsy and unidiomatic phrase.
A native English speaker would probably say, “This is it!” or “Here goes!”
这段文字说明：华人关键时刻常说”成败在此一举” , 老美则说“This is it!” 或“
Here goes!”。没有听过这样的英文根本不可能会想到要这样翻译。
