Red Sox manager John Farrell has been diagnosed with Stage 1 lymphoma,
he told reporters on Friday, and considers his condition "very curable."
Farrell will undergo treatment in the coming days. He had a mass removed
during hernia surgery on Monday in Detroit. Bench coach Torey Lovullo
will manage the Red Sox on an interim basis.
Farrell has every intention of managing the Red Sox next season;
his chemotherapy is scheduled to last nine weeks. Farrell, 53, has
managed the Red Sox since 2013.
