"Was" - a simple verb (word?). Merely a part of speech used in every day life.
“曾经”，是一个简单的字，几乎每天日常生活对话都在使用。
But it's not that simple for us. Because now the everyday Ukrainians simply
cannot say "was" without bursting into tears.
但现在对我们来说不再是简单的字，因为现在每一天乌克兰人无法说出“曾经”却不爆哭
This was my home.
This was my friend.
This was my dog.
This was my car.
This was my job.
And this was my father.
And this was my daughter.
The millions and millions of flesh wounds are bleeding with that "Was".
就在说著这些“曾经”的同时，有数以百万的伤口正在淌血
Russia has drowned Ukraine in tears and blood and children's corpses.
俄罗斯把乌克兰人淹没在眼泪、鲜血还有儿童尸体中
But there is one thing Russia doesn't understand (没听清楚).
"Was" is a word that describes his life.
And we, Ukraines, already know what will come next
