When you think you have a person completely figured out, you narrow down what
that person can or can't be in your mind. Then, when they do or say something
that is out of character in your narrow definition, it can make you feel suspi
cious or mistrusting of them - simply because what they did or said does not f
all within your idea of who they are. If this sounds familiar because you have
been surprised by someone's behavior, consider that there may be more to them
than you realized - and it may be quite positive.
