申请到 University of Pitts 的 J1 scholar
还要带老婆 + 2个小孩(9,7岁)一起去
遇到保险问题，想要来请教一下。
我们是8/1正式开始，不过打算 7/10 左右先过去适应兼找房子等
学校回给我们如下
It is fine to wait until you arrive to resolve the health insurance purchase.
Department of State sets the requirement that an individual be covered for
their entire J-1 program dates, but OIS understands that this is not always
feasible especially when the individual will be using University
benefits/UPMC. It is fine to wait until after arriving.
看起来是到时候再去办保险就好。不过有听说过海关时会检查，所以最好先买
7月的保险，才可以过海关。
所以想请问大家，保险都是怎样处理呢？是在出国前在台湾先买一个月，到正式报到时
再继续买？还是不需要先买，到8月报到再买就好，不会被海关为难？（当然7月
万一有医疗需求就麻烦了）。不过想询问在离开台湾有没有一定要买？会被海关退货吗？
