Jiahe Li obtained his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University in 2015, and then became a postdoctoral fellow in Professor Paula Hammond’s lab at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT, where he developed a novel approach of preassembling nucleic acids and complementary proteins with synthetic polypeptides to enhance the efficacy of RNA-based therapeutics, which has led to active collaborations with academic laboratories and biotech companies. He will be joining the
Bioengineering Department at Northeastern University in January 2019. His lab will be at the convergence of nucleic acid therapeutics, protein engineering, synthetic biology, and polymer science for cancer immunotherapy and infectious diseases. Boston is regarded as the "Silicon Valley" for the biotechnology industry in the US, and his lab will work closely with faculty at Harvard Medical School, MIT, and local biotech companies. Senior undergraduates or master students with interest in bioengineering,
immunology, or protein science are encouraged to apply for a PhD position in his lab, and will receive comprehensive training in the above areas. In addition, his lab recently received a Discovery Award from Department of Defense for oral vaccine delivery against Zika Virus, and a postdoctoral researcher position is available on this project.
