最近在与同学咨询托福问题时，我发现同学都会有一些共同的盲点，
例如：在练托福口说时，会常常卡住。
上次有位同学考前几天口说仍然卡卡的，我便要她举个题目，现场试试看。
她便举了一个题目，“What is the most important thing that you can
do for your country?”
然后计时十五秒后，她开始讲，“The most important thing that I can
do for my country is to not litter because it is good for the
environment. When people do not litter, the environment would
become better.” 结果讲了两三句话，不到20秒就不知道要讲什么了。
此时，我问她，“妳很有环保意识吗？很在乎环境吗？” 她说：“还好。”
我回答：“那么妳为什么要举环境的例子呢？妳应该举个妳很熟悉的例
子呀！”
接着，我示范了我的回答，
“The most important thing that I can do for my country is
definitely to build a library. This is because I believe that
education is important, and building a library can improve the
quality of education. For instance, when I build a library in
Taipei, kids can come and read all kinds of books after school.
They can read Harry Potter, Shakespeare, even modern poetry. Also,
when adults encounter problems in their life, they can seek
answers in different books after work. What’s more, people can
keep on improving themselves through reading books on philosophy,
finance, money management, and so on. Clearly, people can enjoy
better access to education through my library. ”
因为我使用了我很熟悉的例子—阅读，因此，我随便都能够想到很多可以讲
的例子。
此时，她问我，“但是这个回答妳做得到吗？这样答案会不会离题？”
这便是我今天想要与同学分享的重点。
口说一二题的回答只有45秒，内容的部份你没有办法讲太多，因此，只要好
好举例，讲出WHY就可以了，不用担心怎么执行（HOW）或是具体的细节
（WHAT）。
记住，口说除了内容要切题之外，还有另外一点很重要—声音，你的声音听
起来应该要是流畅且有信心的。
试想，当你今天还没有开口说话，脑海中便一直闪过“不知道这个回答是否
可以？”“有没有更好的答案？” “内容会不会离题？” 你自然没办法
表现出应有的信心。这样的状况之下，你不只声音容易变得既虚弱又小声，
还很容易讲到一半卡住，不知道后面该接什么。
我告诉这位同学：“请找出妳最熟悉的事物。最好是妳很有热忱的事物。平
常都在做的事情。这样才能够运用在口说的题目里面。”
此时，她问我：“但是万一遇到不熟悉的题目类型怎么办？”
我说：“尽量把妳熟悉的领域放进题目里面，妳就可以讲得很顺。”
举例来说，假设题目改成这样，“To improve the environment, what is
the most important thing that you can do for your country?”
虽然我并不特别熟悉要如何保护环境，但是我对于阅读仍然是极具热情，
因此，我会试着把阅读这个元素加在我的回答里面，例如：
“To improve the environment, the most important thing that I can
do for my country would be to help raise the environmental
awareness of kids through reading. To elaborate, I would spend an
hour each afternoon reading books on environment issues to
kindergarten kids. Through my special reading program, these
children would learn about the serious consequences of global
warming. Also, when they read about the extinction of animals in
the Amazon rainforest, they would think again when they use
disposable chopsticks. They might even start to ask their friends
and family to help protect the environment like they do. ”
最后，总结今天讲的故事所带给我们的启发：
一、请使用熟悉的例子
不论是口说或写作，一定要使用熟悉的主题，你才能够举出具体又详细的例
子。举例来说，有许多男生喜欢打电动，一定可以很轻松地讲出好几个电玩
的名称，女生大多喜欢吃美食，随便都能够举出各种美食，寿司、石锅拌
饭、月亮虾饼、烧肉饭、等。请你收集你熟悉的例子，并且建立你自己的
word bank。内化之后，你就会发现，不论是口说或写作，就不会有想不到
例子的问题囉！

二、口说内容着重于WHY
口说没办法讲太多，只要能够给出清楚的理由（WHY），并且围绕着理由举
出具体详细的例子就可以了。此外，特别注意口说或是写作的回答没有绝对
的对错，最主要看你是否能够讲的有逻辑。举例来说，前面的第一题“What
is the most important thing that you can do for your country?” 同
学也可以说你想要成立一个全国电玩日，教育民众电玩的好处，因为你认为
学会玩电玩是很重要的事情。只要你讲得有声有色，让对方听完后，被你说
服，这个回答内容本身是没问题的。
三、不要质疑自己
于15秒钟中选定理由后，请你相信你的理由。不要在心中无限循环，担心自
己这个理由不知道可不可以，或是害怕这个理由的例子细节不够多。当你质
疑自己，便未战先输。先相信自己，才能够说服别人。
最后，祝同学在练习口说时，越来越有信心，也能够从中发现乐趣。
