A passenger plane with 118 people on board was reportedly hijacked over Libya
and forced to land in Malta.
The internal flight was diverted to the Mediterranean island this morning.
Joseph Muscat, the Prime Minister of Malta, said he had been informed of a "po
tential hijack".
Reports suggest two people on board the Afriqiyah Airways plane threatened to
blow it up.
He wrote on Twitter: "Informed of potential hijack situation of a #Libya inter
nal flight diverted to #Malta. Security and emergency operations standing by."
