Chatter on the Wind
风之语
Every two turns your soldiers will"hear" the enemy movement beyond your line
of sight. The directionalindicator you are shown points to the CLOSEST
enemies to your soldiers.

Medics: They aren't useless

A medic is one of the most useful classesto have around, they can keep your
soldiers healthy during battle and theyincrease the survivability of friendly
(and enemy) soldiers with their smokegrenades. They may lack the killing
power of the other classes, but when youget poisoned by a thin-man or
strangled by a Seeker, you'll be glad that youhave them with you.

Shreddin' Assaults

Assaults have a small item that confers"shredded" to any enemies hit. This
applies not just to shots fromguns, but also damaging Psi attacks.

抵抗灵能攻击。
Divide and Conquer.
分头出击
Usually it is never a good idea to splityour team into two, but on urban
maps, there is some merit in doing this. Whenyou have both your Squad
upgrades, you can split your squad into fire teams offour people. This is
useful because it lets you breach buildings and otherstructures much more
efficiently and sets you up for more flanking maneuvers.It also lets you get
out of deadlock situations where you are in a prolonged firefight with Alien
opposition, without any opportunity to move forward.
通常把你的队伍分成2队不是一个好办法,但是在城市地图,这样做有一些优点。当你的
队伍规模已经全面升级了,你可以把你的小队分成4人的火力小组。因为这样可以使你在

S.H.I.V all the things.
SHIV指南
Liberally use S.H.I.Vs, they are muchbetter than the standard rookie, can
take more damage and can create movingcover. They might not get any
experience and be less effective than a regularsoldier, but they can be
outfitted to oblivion due to the much expanded S.H.I.Vtree, present in Long
War. A S.H.I.V does not suffer from fatigue either. Ifyou want to try and
take all the missions that the game throws at you, having alarge contingent
of S.H.I.Vs is almost a requirement.

Battle Scanners.

Battle scanners become a requirement whenseekers start coming into the enemy
squad rotation as they can seriously wreckany well laid plan. Seekers have
had many shackles taken off their AI, so 4seekers can decloak and strangle
you in one turn unless you do something aboutit.
当章鱼开始出现在外星人的名单上后战场扫描器变成一项必要装备(战场扫描器能把隐形

Grenades first.

You might have a juicy HE grenade Targethiding behind a wall. You have the
perfect throw, but think before you throw.You might remove his cover, but you
might also add line of sight to the threeother aliens that was on the other
side of the wall, now you have to contendwith more enemies and you might be
caught in a very bad position. As such,generally throw the Grenade as the
first thing, not the last.

Meld doesn't matter.
Meld无关紧要
While not true, it is not worth potentiallylosing valuable soldiers to
recover it. If it's in a good place to grab, thenby all means. If not don't
waste a soldiers well-being on it. Also, the betteryou are doing, the less
Meld you receive, so don't worry about missing it. Meldbecomes increasingly
necessary in the late game. In addition to meld canisters,meld is gained at
an automatic rate of 0.2 alien corpse brought home from amission (rounded
down). Mechtoid and floater/H.floater corpses also provideslightly higher
fractional meld.
冒着失去士兵宝贵的生命的风险去回收Meld是不值得的。如果Meld处在唾手可得的位置就

Explosive Terror solutions

The most dangerous part of terror missionare the roaming Chryssalids.
Chryssalids will frequently charge you in abunched up group, which makes them
excellent targets for grenades and/orrockets. You might not get any
carcasses, but that is a small price to pay.This is one of the few occasions
where AP grenades really shine. A MEC with aflamethrower is the mother of all
chryssalid fears, consider moving MECs nearthe end of your turn if you know
chryssalids are on the map.

Cover, cover, cover!

Always keep your units in high cover, forthat 45 defense and damage
reduction. If in low cover, hunker. Hunkering in lowcover is BETTER than
standing in high cover. 45 defense with 1 damage reductionvs 60 defense with
1.33.

A plethora of specimens.

A good, albeit dangerous, way to earn morescientists and money is by giving
captured aliens to council nations. As such,you should always try to capture
at least one Alien, when doing a mission.Downed Scouts and Fighters are
excellent ways to do this. You can have a nearinfinite number of Captured
aliens at your base and countries will usually onlyask for one specimen per
request.
一个虽然危险但不错的攒科学家数量及赚钱的办法是把抓到的外星人给议会任务。如此每

Knowing is half the battle!

In Long War, you will be given a shortdescription of what type of terrain you
will be fighting on. This is veryuseful information as it lets you customize
squads that are tailor-made forfights on that specific type of map. This
feature is a godsend, with theincrease in classes and their more specialized
nature.

Block the exit!

A soldier can effectively "lock"a doorway if placed on the tile immediately
on one side of it. This is becausealiens cannot open doors, they can only
charge through them. Similarly, laddersand pipes can be "locked" by standing
at the top of them; this can beeffective for blocking berserkers.
如果把士兵放在门两侧任何一格可以把门堵住。因为外星人不会开门,它们只会撞开门。

Aliens don't like being flanked.

When an alien is flanked, they areextremely likely to move to get out of the
flank - even if this means movingthrough overwatch and suppression. If you
want an enemy to stay put for nextturn, it might not be the best idea to
flank him this turn.

Supression, Flashbangs, Overwatch and You.

Overwatch shots will not crit unless thesoldier/alien has the opportunist
perk. Using the grapple hook available onvarious armors will not trigger
overwatch shots. Suppression and flashbangswill cancel overwatch (although
the eye indicator will stay up on suppression).The suppressor taking any
damage, cloaking, and flashbangs will cancelSuppression.

Drones and their lack of programming.

Drones cannot overwatch, nor can they gothrough closed doors.

Cyberdicks.

Cyberdisks are nearly immune to criticalhits in their folded up form, but not
in their attack form. If they go onoverwatch upon reveal, it can be a good
idea to take a shot taking advantage ofthe crit bonus. Upon the disk folding
up, you can then run a scout to pull theoverwatch fire thus tricking the
cyberdisk into unfolding again so you can takemore shots at it. Using this
method can maximize your crit damage potential.
飞碟(闪变机甲)龟缩姿态的时候几乎对爆击免疫,但是在攻击姿态的时候不是。如果它们

Outsiders.

They can't climb ladders and have nogrenades. Beware on landed/crashed UFO
missions, triggering the outsider podhas a tendency to make other alien pods
converge on your position.

Seekers.

Seekers can only strangle from a decloak bybeing landed (i.e. no flying
defense bonus) on an open tile in one of the 4main directions of tiles (no
diagonals). They seem to preferentially seek outsoldiers that are separated
from your crew (snipers usually), assaults, andgunners. Seekers ALWAYS know
where every member of your team is, they cheat. Adecloaking seeker, whether
they are attacking or whether you threw a battlescanner, will trigger close
combat specialist. Thus, one way to deal withseekers sans battle scanner is
to surround an assault with other members ofyour team so that the seekers
can't strangle the assault; when they try tostrangle anyone else, the assault
trips close combat spec on every seeker thatattacks and hopefully kills all
of them.
章鱼只有在降落并现身的情况下(没有飞行模式防御奖励),对所处位置周围4格(不包

MECs
MEC机甲
The MEC grenade launcher and proximity minelauncher can be fired while the
MEC is acting as a heavy cover element with"one for all" without breaking the
ability. Restorative mist will notstabilize a critically wounded soldier.
Proximity mines can be automaticallydetonated by any other explosive going
off with the mine inside the explosiveradius. The kinetic strike module can
be used to punch through any destructibleenvironment elements; use it to make
artificial holes in UFOs.
MEC机甲在掩体姿态(一劳永逸技能)可以使用榴弹炮和地雷而不取消姿态。治疗薄雾不
能挽救受致命伤倒地的士兵。地雷可以被其它爆炸物触发。拳头可以砸开无法摧毁的障碍

The KSM does not work with "In TheZone", but the KSM and electro pulse do get
damage increases with HEATammo (important for goliaths). MECs cannot be
strangled and possess partialimmunity to acid.
拳头无法触发“我的地盘”技能,电磁脉冲可以从高热弹药中获得额外伤害(对于巨人型

Flush mechanics.

The 50% damage reduction from the perk"flush" is applied BEFORE the HEAT ammo
perk. This means that thebonus damage against robot targets is not reduced by
50%.

LOS

Alien line of sight can sometimes bedetermined: moving into a flanked
position will show the shield as red. Movingaway from the alien, the point
where the shields switch from red to normalmarks the limit of the aliens
sight.

Chemically assisted capture.

When an alien is affected by Acid and onlyhas a single hitpoint left, he will
always refuse to use an action that wouldotherwise cause it to be triggered
and kill him. This can be used to youradvantage to prepare unwary invaders
for multiple, safe stunning attempts withthe Arc Thrower. If an enemy unit is
shredded, acid will cause 2 points ofdamage. Enemies that are shredded,
acided, and have 2 hit points left willstill move because the AI doesn't take
into account the extra shredded damage;thus the alien may move to its death.
Be careful when psi-panicking acidaffected enemies with 1 HP left, they will
often panic move, killing themselves(thus no arc thrower capturing).
当一个外星人中了酸毒,只剩1滴血,它就不会做出任何动作来自杀。利用这个优势来用
你的电击器安全捕捉大量的鲁莽入侵者。如果一个外星人身上有伤害增强的DEBUFF,酸毒

Capturing Aliens.
捕获外星人
An easy method to capture aliens is to havea unit with packmaster/repair
carry an arcthrower and a unit with psi panic.Leave one enemy last such as
muton/floater/outsider (or any other low-willenemy), use psi panic on it and
make liberal use of the arc thrower untilsuccessful.
一个简单的办法是带上一个有口袋大师/修理技能的士兵装备电击器及一个有灵能恐惧的
士兵。剩下一个类似绿皮/漂浮者/光行者等敌人(或者是其他低意志的外星人),对它使
用灵能恐惧,然后放心的使用你的电击器,直到成功为止。
End Game Armor

Don't just go with the heavy titan armor asalways. Archangel armor is one of
the best armors available, and not just forthat squadsight sniper. You can
easily trade 2 hp for the increased mobilityand defense bonuses, plus the
flying ability and the associated aim bonuses.Your units will rarely miss
shots and will not be in danger of getting flanked.You can also laugh at
those charging chryssalids and berserkers.
不要总是穿泰坦护甲。大天使护甲是最好的护甲,且不仅仅对小队狙而言。你可以轻易的
用2点血换来移动和防御BUFF,另外还有飞行能力和命中BUFF。(飞行模式)你的单位几
乎不会射空或者被侧袭。你还可以嘲笑一下脚底下的虫子和红皮。
Ethereal Tactics.
虚灵策略
Ethereals cannot overwatch. Psi lance isactually the regular attack of the
ethereal, and deals damage proportional towill (thus very high damage).
Things that reduce the damage of Psi Lance andRift:
1) Every form of DR including cover.
2) Every 10 points of soldier's will reducedamage by 1.
3) Combat drugs reduce it by 2.
4) Psi inspiration reduce it by 3.
5) Mind merge reduces it by 2.5 (will scalein Beta 14)
虚灵无法警戒。通常用灵能长矛攻击,伤害取决于你的意志(很疼)。以下因素可降低灵
能长矛和时空裂隙的伤害:
1、 任何一种伤害减免的手段(包括掩体)
2、 士兵每10点意志降低1伤害
3、 战斗兴奋剂降低2伤害
4、 灵能激励降低3伤害
5、 心灵融入降低2.5伤害*(BETA14会调整)
Two suppressions can easily reduce the aimclose to zero, while also reducing
the range of rift. Disabling shot willeliminate the ability to use Psi lance
for a turn. Clustered units can beeasily wiped out with rift. The ethereal
will not use rift if it will getcaught up in it as well. Take note that
flying units cannot be damaged by rift.Shredding an ethereal first is an
ideal way to quickly take it down in one turnwith enough firepower. While
mind controlling an ethereal will grant rift, inthe final mission the
volunteer will get rift anyway.
双人压制会轻易的将虚灵的命中率减到0,同时也降低时空裂隙技能的射程。残废射击可
以在当回合确保使不出灵能长矛。扎堆的单位很容易被时空裂隙一波带走。如果AOE会伤
到自己,虚灵不会使用时空裂隙。记着飞行的单位不会受到时空裂隙的伤害。一开始就给
虚灵挂上伤害增强的DEBUFF并有足够火力可以在1回合击倒虚灵。心灵控制虚灵可以使用
它的时空裂隙技能,当然最终战的志愿者也会有该技能。
