Jonathan Kuminga's Free Agency and Agent Perspectives on Value
And sometimes, you know, I think it's important to evaluate where you are and
be OK with
understanding that I still have room to grow.
Now I've been in a situation I'm a speak from my own guys, Jalen Johnson,
Moses Moody,
right?
Moses was the 14th picking the draft to Golden State.
He's going to a place to where I think they won the the finals in his first
year, not really getting a
lot of playing opportunity.
He comes up for a contract, I meet with him, I meet with his family, and I
explained to him, for
me, I feel like we still have room to grow.
But it's also important for you to get a little money in your pocket, right?
I think what you can learn from this locker room, what you can learn from
this organization, the
opportunity to sit in and be in film sessions with guys like Steve Kerr,
Steph Curry, Draymond
Klay, the opportunities to go far in the playoffs and get that experience.
Whether it's 2 minutes or 22 minutes, whether you start or you come off the
bench, that's just
that's just you gaining experience because I believe when you go to a team.
You do it and you embrace it.You're going to you're going to play three to
five more years then you probably would haveplayed had you started somewhere
else that that probably wasn't as better position, right?
And you didn't embrace the same way in Jaylen Johnson's case.Jalen
Johnson was in a different position and he was budding. He was budding. They
were making room clearing it out for him to be the guy.Clearly they were
clearing it out for him to be the guy, but once, once once we got to
$150million fully guaranteed.24:12It's not about me, right?I know if if
I,if I wait, I believe's going to have a really good season and we'll go and
get, youknow, be positioned for Max contract the next year. But you have to
evaluate the risk of that number one.
And also can that player lay under those circumstances #2 he, he had some, a
couple of injuries prior to and this is life changing money for him and his
family. 24:40 Speaker1 And you can't. You can't say. 24:41 Speaker 2 No, this
is my point, right? 24:43 Speaker 1 Especially the intensity that the modern
sports world is played in NFL, MLB, like guys arms are falling off the
intensity because the competition is so great all the time. The the risk of
injury is so high. 24:57 Speaker 2 Especially when you've already had them.
But, but, but, but in like Tyrese Maxi's case, it was a little bit different.
He had never had no injuries. He's very doable. I knew that whatever they
offered us was going to be so underpaid.
Kellerman:
Paul:
25:11 Speaker 1Right, you have to wait.25:13 Speaker 2You have to.So in
that case we had to wait the year before that maybe he gets 140 million, his
comparisonssomebody like Jordan Poole, one year later he gets 20 four.So
that's a $64 million difference, being patient.25:28Now, he had to go out
there and play and he did.And he had a hell of a season. That's when he hit
the shot in the Garden, took the series, extended the series with the
Knicks, etcetera. And And but those are three different scenarios that I'm
given and.
Kellerman:
