James was reluctant to speak on an individual milestone with the loss so “fresh
in (my) mind”, but he expressed his appreciation for the game of basketball an
d to those who congratulated him on the accomplishment.

“Any time I’ve been linked to some of the greats, I’ve always just been in aw
e. Been appreciative to play this game at the highest level. I love the game of
basketball. I love being a part of the NBA and being able to inspire so many dif
ferent sets of generations. And along that way, when you’re able to accomplish
things individually, then, at some point, I guess, have an opportunity to sit ba
ck and think about it.”

LeBron later added that he was “humbled” to be a part of the NBA’s Top 75 tea
m, which will be honored at next week’s All-Star weekend in Cleveland, near LeB
ron’s hometown of Akron. He said he is looking forward to having friends and fa
mily in attendance.
