According to official Spurs salary figures filed with the NBA and
obtained by the Express-News, the club is projected to exceed the
league’s luxury tax threshold of $84.74 million for the first time
since the 2011-12 season and for just the third time since the luxury
tax was introduced in 2003.
The Spurs currently have 16 players under contract for 2015-16 for
$87.073 million. That is $17.073 million over the $70 million salary cap
and slightly more than $2.33 million over the luxury tax threshold.
