Jeremy Lin went through an extended shooting session Thursday afternoon –
his first since suffering a grade one right knee sprain and contusion
November 27 during Houston’s game against the Atlanta Hawks.

“I’m just trying to get my rhythm back,” he said following his workout. “
I did a little bit of rehab earlier today, a little bit of treadmill work.
“I’ll know a lot more tomorrow with how (the knee) responds. I pushed it
today and then hopefully tomorrow it feels good. I haven’t really gotten to
cutting or running, sprinting, any of that – it was all standstill. We’ll
see. I don’t really know.”

Following the diagnosis of Lin’s injury, Houston’s training staff said its
point guard would be out two weeks and then re-evaluated at that time. The
25-year-old says there’s been no update to that timetable, and that his only
focus at this point is on making sure he follows the steps necessary toward
securing a healthy return.

“(The training staff) told me it’s going to be a lot depending on how you
feel. Before I try to get out on the floor, I want to be able to help my team
out there, so I’ll make sure my conditioning is right before I get out there.
“When I feel right, I’ll play. Obviously I’d love to play, but I’m not
going to put any date, any time. When I feel right, I’ll be out there as
soon as I can.”

As for the rest of the Rockets, the team took part in a film session and
light workout Thursday; little more than that could be done given the club’s
lengthy walking wounded list. Chandler Parsons (back spasms), Omer Asik
(thigh contusion), Greg Smith (knee) all received treatment following the
film study. Asik and Smith will miss tomorrow’s game against the Golden
State Warriors; Parsons will likely be a game-time decision.
Omri Casspi, meanwhile, is in Washington D.C. today, meeting President Obama
and participating in a menorah lighting ceremony at the White House.
