Chase Utley returns to Dodgers on one-year contract
The Dodgers have re-signed veteran infielder Chase Utley to a one-year
contract for 2016, CBSSports MLB insider Jon Heyman has confirmed. Heyman
adds that the deal is expected to be worth around $7 million guaranteed.
Utley, who turns 37 this month, is coming off a 2015 season in which he
batted .212/.286/.343 for the Phillies and Dodgers. For his career, he owns
an OPS+ of 121 with 1,648 hits and 236 home runs across parts of 13
big-league seasons. To be sure, Utley's numbers were way down in 2015, but
the Marcel Projection system tabs him for a modest rebound
