Josh Hamilton is the Rangers' starting center fielder for Game 3 of the World
Series tonight and hasn't missed a postseason game even though he might need
surgery after the season to repair a sports hernia.
No tests have been conducted to determine the extent of Hamilton's injury,
which was first suffered in early September and aggravated in the final
series at Anaheim. Hamilton said in St. Louis and again Saturday that he
believes he has a sports hernia.
Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said that the Rangers will diagnose the
injury and treat it as soon as the season ends.
"We've got three to five games left," Daniels said. "After that, even if that
is the case, it doesn't change how we will handle it at this point. He says
he's OK to play, doctors say they're OK if he's playing, he's out there in
the lineup."
