模糊记得以前学syntax时曾经有个用来测试某词组是complement还是adjunct的方法但
一时记不起，刚才翻阅一本文法书，其中再度提到这个测试法，即用do so这个代表
整个动词及其补语的anophora。
I painted the house red last year, and he did so two years ago. [1]
*I painted the house red last year, and he did so blue two years ago. [2]
[1] 合法，其中did so代表painted the house red，这证明red是complement。
[2] 不合法，因为did so已经包含red，后面不能再接另一个补语blue。
这个比较同时也告诉你last year、two years ago只是adjunct，所以不纳入did so。
用这个方法，我觉得I woke up hungry的hungry也同样是complement，不仅是adjunct。
同一本文法书并且提到另一个辨别complement和adjunct的原则：去掉complement，
句子会变不合文法ungrammatical或在意思上产生"unsystematic change in meaning"
非系统性的变化，比如：
She ran the business. 去掉 the business 后成 She ran. 句子虽然合法但已经发生
非系统性的意思变化，两个ran意思不再一样。
我个人觉得这个“非系统变化”的原则，用在painted the house red和woke up hungry
比较难以判别到底是不是非系统变化，因为油漆和醒来的动词意思大致没变。不过，用前
述的did so来判断好像就明朗许多。
