4a. Genitive in description
 
  通常用于抽象的性质。
  简单作法就是把抽象的名词转为形容词,比较好理解。  
eques summae audaciae
a horseman of the utmost boldness
= a very bold horse man
Sumus populus misericordiae?
Are we a people of misery? = Are we a miserable people?
Primi Christiani erant homines laeti animi.
The first Christians were persons of joyful mind.
= 起初的基督徒,心里很喜乐。
(这句话比较麻烦,因为mind没办法直接转成形容词。
      用中文还比较好说明。XD)
6b. ablative in description
通常用于具体的事物。
  简单作法就是理解为“拥有”、“具有”。
homo vultu severo
a man with a stern expression = a man who has a stern expression
Petrus erat vir magna anima.
Peter was a man of great soul = Peter had a great soul.

谢谢!虽然说animus跟anima对我而言都很抽象,不过概念清楚些了。

animus比较像心灵,anima比较像灵魂。不过不同的作家笔下意义会不同,有的则是会混著用。
