我是谢忠理老师，对于 GRE 写作中 issue 题目如何写的问题，我提
供教学心得给大家做参考。
【原题】 Some people believe that universities should
require every student to take a variety of courses outside
the student's field of study. Others believe that
universities should not force students to take any courses
other than those that will help prepare them for jobs in
their chosen fields.
【原题大意】有人认为大学应该要求每位学生修习他们自己研习领域
之外的各式各样课程。其他人则认为除了有助于学生做就业准备的课
程之外，大学不应该强迫学生修习任何学科。
【Instruction】
Write a response in which you discuss which view more
closely aligns with your own position and explain your
reasoning for the position you take. In developing and
supporting your position, you should address both of the
views presented.
【问题】
原 po 问：“这种 A 觉得 xxx，但 B 觉得 yyy 的题目，是直接选
边站（支援 A 狂打 B）比较好？还是先两边各打五十大板再提出自
己的意见比较好呢？”
【说明】
1. Issue 题目目前有六类指示 (instruction)。ETS 特别强调
It is important that you address the central issue
according to the specific instructions. Each task is
accompanied by one of the following sets of instructions.
所以不论是 issue 还是 argument 都要按照各题的 instruction 去写。
2. 本题 instruction 中明白指出要考生 "you should address
both of the views presented" 所以两种说法都要去探讨。说出
两者各自的优、缺点，最后说自己的看法是哪一种比较好。
3. 如果经过分析之后，认为两种说法都不够理想，可以提出自己的
主张。像是目前这个题目，一方说要每位学生都要修各式各样的
其他课程，一方说任何一门课都不应该修，两方都过于极端。所
以到后来应该是采取中庸之道才合理，这时就可以提出自己认为
比较理想的方法。
4. 如果要支援原文某方立场，也要两方都论述后，得出合理结论才
可以，不能放著一方不说，只打他方缺点。
5. GRE 写作批改很严，高分不容易。而依照 instruction 来写作，
会是取得好分数的第一步。
