本月考试修辞机经似乎有一点不足，赶紧帮同学补充一道考场回忆题，同学考试碰到的话一
定要稳稳地拿分！
许多同学在考试后回来和助教分享说，在实际考试时碰到的SC题目很多时候5个选项都长的
不一样，很少遇到所谓的“三二结构”，在当下根本不知道怎么解题。 今天分享这题考场
回忆的题目，乍看之下，五个选项的长相还真的挺不一样，同学很可能当下会慌了手脚，不
过只要同学静下心来，就会发现莫老师上课教授的“16条规则”还是同学解题时最好的依靠
。
这道题讲的是一位学者在讨论东京议定书：
Christoph Böhringer, a scholar…, has calculated that the Kyoto treaty
participants if compliant…, still have the theoretical possibility of
increasing….
(A)participants if compliant …have the theoretical possibility of increasi
(B)could theoretically sustain compliance …with an increase in…

【说明】
本题同学观察到选项中有“compliant vs. compliance vs. comply”、“have the
possibility vs. could”、“increase (名词) vs. increase (动词)”这些差别，同学应
该要马上反射想到这题一定会考十六条规则的“简洁(conciseness)”观念；使用动词的句
子通常是最简洁的。 但是提醒同学，最后确认答案前还是要顺一下句意逻辑是否正确、检
查句子是否其他文法或指涉上的错误，不要立刻就选“使用动词的答案”否则的话，还是会
误入GMAC出题者另外设下的陷阱唷！

Kyoto Treaty (Kyoto Protocol) 京都议定书
又译《京都协议书》、《京都条约》；全称《联合国气候变化纲要公约的京都议定书》）是
《联合国气候变化纲要公约》（United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change，UNFCCC）的补充条款。是1997年12月在日本京都府京都市的国立京都国际会馆所召
开联合国气候变化纲要公约参加国三次会议制定的。其目标是“将大气中的温室气体含量稳
定在一个适当的水平，以保证生态系统的平滑适应、食物的安全生产和经济的可持续发展”

It would be one thing if Kyoto were going to lead to a significant decline in
global carbon emissions. But that is not necessarily the case. “Christoph Bö
hringer, a scholar at the Center for European Economic Research, in Mannheim,
Germany, has calculated that the Kyoto participants could actually, in theory,
increase their carbon emissions by 6 percent in the aggregate by 2010 and still
comply with the treaty” because the Russian target has been set at such an
easy level.
