Dani Alves is set to leave Barcelona at the end of the season. The
Barcelona right-back has not been able to agree a new contract with the club
and is likely to head abroad. He will hold a press conference on Tuesday to
announce his decision.
Negotiations broke down between Alves, 32, and Barcelona. They offered him a
new deal, but it was not up to scratch and he rejected it, per Cadena SER.
Right now, barring any last-minute change of heart by either party, Alves'
career at the club is coming to an end.
Alves and Barça let the semi-finals of the Champions League and the La Liga
triumph pass by, before resuming discussions. On Thursday there was a meeting
in which Alves was offered more than previously, but the player still felt it
below his worth and rejected the proposal.
His next destination is still unknown, with PSG best placed to take him on,
while Manchester City may yet procure his services.
We will have to see whether this is the last step in the Alves soap opera
that has taken place over the last few months. If there is no change to come,
Alves is facing his last three games as a Blaugrana star.
