最近上一个托福作文班,老师是个老外,他说英文句子可分为两种
nominal sentence 和 verbal sentence
差别就像以下的两句:
Nominal: Lincoln's hope was for the preservation of the Union without war, but the South's attack on Fort Sumter made war an inevitability.
Verbal: Lincoln hoped to preserve the Union without war, but the South attacked Fort Sumter, making war inevitable.
他说好文章应该多用Verbal sentence,我自己也是觉得Verbal读起来较容易理解
但是我上网查了一下,发现有意见提到语言考试应该多用名词句,真正要锻练英文写作才用动词句
我目前的目标只是托福能拿4~5分,那是不是该多用名词句呢?
而且名词句的好处很明显...字数比较多xD
