ut said reconfiguring B777 economy cabins from 9 seats on single rows to 10 is
viable.
“Ten years ago Cathay was much less of a premium airline than it is today,”
he said. “There is always a trade-off between the number of seats you can put
on an airplane and the premiums of those seats, and we are always looking for
ways we can put more seats on the airplane, because more seats probably means
more revenue, and more revenue probably means more profit. But you can’t do
that and just sacrifice the premium nature of the service.”
He added that many airlines around the world have configured B777 plane with 1
0 seats abreast and that seat design technology has improved to ensure comfort
