Alex,
It is very good to hear from you.
Our requirements for recognition are fairly strait forward if you think about what we are trying to do.
We are trying to encourage every country to have a national yo-yo organization, that at the very minimum, hosts a national contest once a year.
We have a few requirements.
1. the contest is open to everyone. It would be ok, if the finals are narrowed down by another contest, but the "feeder contests" that seed into the nationals then have to be open. It can not be an invitational.
2. any brand of yo-yo can be used (you can limit the numbers of yo-yos, but the player gets to choose what they want to play with)
3. The contest must be judged by qualified judges. The audience can not judge. Judges must know yo-yoing.
4. We do not normally recognize a contest on it's first year. Since this contest has under other names been going on for several years, we would be willing to recognize yours in that time.
5. We do encourage you to hold beginners divisions, so that you can encourage new players to come into the sport. This is not a requirement.
For #3, To help you in the future, we invite you to send a judge, or several judges to worlds, to help judge, and to sit side by side the best judges the world has to offer, to learn what they have to show you, and to teach them what you know. Depending on your skill level you may be shadow judging (practice judging) or actively judging, but you will be up there, learning what we do, and hopefully thinking of someway we can do it better.
At this point we offer seeded slots to 1A and 2A from your contest to ours.
In other words, your contestants will freestyle, but as the rules are today, they will still have to do the compulsory tricks as it is a part of their scores. (this often does things like making a third place freestyle contestant into a fourth place contestant with the overall score.)
The last thing we would love to see is a video of the first place 1A contestant you have, and we would like to know how many contestants you have show up in each division.
If this does not answer all of your questions, let me know.
