以往遇到这种考关代的题目都会选错
带学生看学测考题也经常看到类似的题目
因为教关代时印象中有of which 就直接选which
但写完再看一次觉得很怪 但又选不出来其他答案
正确答案是 what
单看for the sake of a male heir 意思是他再婚的原因是想要一个男继承人
加上了was supposed to be就有点混乱了

这是在讲英王亨利八世的第一任妻子生无男丁，再娶第二任妻子安妮，为了继承其王位。of which 是指“哪里”，what 指“某”王位继承人。which 有明确指出那个“谁”的意思，由于还没出世，故用 what 指不特定的“某个”(有可能的)继承人那个人。“索引词”(indexical term)与代名词的区别。

看不懂楼上的解释..for the sake of 后面一定是接:名词

What=the thing which 代进去看就知道了另外看"__ was supposed to..."这句话缺主词,所以一定选what=the thing(名词)+ which(关系代名词)完全用句子结构解就可以

你知道要接名词，就带入名词子句就是答案了

因为这根本不是在考关代，而是间接问句
