Ph.D. positions available starting Fall 2021 in the
Structural Health Monitoring and Dynamics Laboratory at Purdue University
==============================================================================
Ph.D. positions are available at the Structural Health Monitoring and
Dynamics Laboratory within the School of Mechanical Engineering
(https://engineering.purdue.edu/ME ) at Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN,
USA). These positions span a variety of areas including, but not limited to:
1- Theoretical and computational continuum mechanics with particular emphasis
on the application of fractional calculus. This is a research area at the
intersection of theoretical mechanics and applied mathematics.
2- Design, simulation, and fabrication of metamaterials for acoustic and
elastic wave control. This research area is at the intersection of
structural mechanics and applied physics.
3- Numerical and experimental development of structural health monitoring
techniques for mechanical and aerospace systems.
The ideal candidate should have an undergraduate (B.S.) or graduate (M.S.)
degree in Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, or a closely related
field of engineering and science. Candidates with background or degrees in
physics and applied mathematics are also highly encouraged to apply.
Candidates interested in this opportunity should contact Prof. Semperlotti by
email. The email should include an updated resume.
