基本上今年 PhD open position 依然是 3位，
不只是 PhD学生， 如果是对 Open-source EDA 方向有兴趣的
硕士班学生，也可以申请 UCSC 加入我们 lab, 老师有
充足的 funding 和 projects，可以 support
每一位硕班学生1~2 quarter 的 RA 哦!

Current Research Interest:
1. Open source EDA tool development:
We are currently developing an ASIC/FPGA design flow
called "Live flow" from HDL design -> simulation tool
-> logic synthesis ->to Placement &Routing.
For live we mean to get resulting feedback within 1 to 30 sec
in any of the ASIC design steps without losing QoR.

2. Computer Architecture:
"Every topic" in Computer Architecture
Requirement:
- familiar with C++(must be) and any of the modern OO language(plus)
- familiar with ASIC/FPGA design flow and industry tools
- positive working/research altitude
Jose 基本上是Computer Architecture中生代里面的大老，
在硅谷基本上是非常有名的教授,，业界学界人脉非常广，
在各个 conference 皆可看到老师谈笑风生的身影。
老师人非常nice很照顾学生，每年都会动用他的人脉主动帮学生找实习机会，
ucsc邻近硅谷，搭配老师超广的network，毕业之后找到好工作绝对是不成问题。
老师基本上是天才一个，永远有源源不绝的 idea 涌现，
好处是不用怕没有研究题目，
当然如果你有自己的想法，他绝对会很开心的跟你一起 brainstorming，
且老师是实战派的C++宗师，会直接参与 coding，常
常看到老师半夜两点上传 code......^^"
目前老师比较focus 在 Live flow的研发上，
基于lgraph这个VLSI netlist database开发各式各样的tool，
其中 live-synthesys 受到 Goolge TPU team 的采用，算是有业界认证。
老师很积极的继续向其他公司(Microsoft, Intel, Xilinx)推销这个 tool,
常常到这些公司演讲，未来会有很多研究以及业界的机会。
实验室今年毕业了三位Ph.D.学长，所以人手短缺中，
俗话说的好，申请美帝Ph.D.就是一个萝卜一个坑，现在坑来了，而且还是三个!
UCSC是个小而美的好学校，虽然排名乍看之下不是top，但是地缘加成，UC系列也加成，
今年computer science 和 computer engineering 两个系所合并，
预计世界排名会再往上冲刺，
另外系上个 Job fair 各大公司是一间也不少，同学们可以放心。
