They’ve got Venezuelan families in front of supermarkets with babies in tow,
asking for money.
I feel kinda conflicted. I know they risked their lives to come here, but there’s nothing
here for them. It’s going to dip below 0 degrees Celsius real soon, and the whole
city will be nothing but big tundra of ice to them. This city already has really poor
neighborhoods, and they’re eating up their resources with all the community places
converted to shelters, and that’s still not enough to put all the people bussed from
Texas every week, and there’s simply no way to survive the winter in tents. The city is
in debt now with all this extra spending with no federal support.
And not to sound elitist, but why why why would you make so many fresh babies when your country is collapsing?
I hope they find a way to go home. The weather is less brutal back there and they
have all of their family and friends, even if the future is bleak.
