村上春树氏がオークランド・ライターズ・フェスティヴァルに参加する傍ら、うちの大
学へゲスト・スピーカーとしてきて顶きました。テーマは、‘海辺のカフカ’と‘雨月
物语’でした。１０歳顷、风邪で学校を休み、小中学生向けのを読んだ、と。それ以来
、秋成の虏になったそうです。意外なところ、‘春雨’の“二世の縁”が、my
favoriteだとおっしゃっていました。円地文子も好きで、“二世の縁拾遗”という短篇
を书いたとこちらから言ったら、“知りませんでした”と返ってきました。最后にグル

Murakami Haruki came to my Edo lit in translation course while visiting NZ
hosted by the Auckland Writers Festival. The main topic the class wanted to
know about was his use of Ugetsu monogatari in his Umibe no Kafka. He
responded that he had read a juvenile edition of Ugetsu while sick at home
when he was around 10 years old, and that from that time on, he became an
avid reader of Akinari. We learned that his favourite Akinari work is "Nise
no enishi", in Harusame monogatari. I mentioned that Enchi Fumiko had also
written a story "Nise no en, shui", but he didn't seem aware of it. Please
