"Before Sunrise" 的标题让我想到一首John Donne 的诗
The Sun Rising
Busy old fool, unruly Sun,
Why dost thou thus,
Through windows, and through curtains, call on us ?
Must to thy motions lovers' seasons run ?
Saucy pedantic wretch, go chide
Late school-boys and sour prentices,
Go tell court-huntsmen that the king will ride,

前几天看了一本书, 里面提到白昼/黑夜之间"正常"/"异常"的关系.
一般来说, 白昼代表的是正常的工作时间, 所以在晚上睡眠时间出没的人
就容易被贬为"异常者". Before Sunrise 亦是类似的隐喻; Wake up, you fool.
it's time to go now. 杰西揉揉双眼, 像童话里的Cinderella, "噢, 我该去赶飞机
了", 于是他们又再度回到现实的时间.
有趣的是, 这部片特别提炼"维也纳的一日游", 其他扰人的现实生活完全被屏除在外.
例如杰西西班牙的心碎之旅, 以及男女主角终究有无再续前缘等, 都不是导演的重心.
就像杰西在9年之后现身说法,"故事的结局取决于你是什么样的人,如果你是个浪漫
的人,那你就会肯定他们还是会再相遇;如果你愤世嫉俗, 那么你就不可能相信他们会见
面 " 这种开放式的结局, 和"金玉盟"(An Affair to remember) 对帝国大厦的执著是
不同的, 前者注定是以轻松收场(不管他们有没有见面, 因为见面不代表就胜过分别),
而后者注定是好莱坞式赚人热泪的悲剧.
