When it comes to the 2016 WWE Hall of Fame class, there have been some big
names in Sting and the Fabulous Freebirds, as well as some fan favorites like
Big Bossman and The Godfather. This past week also saw the announcement of
Jacqueline, who was the first women’s champion when the title was resurrected
in the Attitude Era. However, another name, this one a legend has been
announced. According to PWS on Saturday, Mean Gene Okerlund said that Stan
“The Lariat” Hanson will also be inducted this year as well.
This is a big deal for old school fans, and people who like legends to get
inducted as well. Hansen wrestled from 1973 until 2001 and competed in
All Japan, the AWA, NWA, and WWF. His biggest American title was the AWA
World Heavyweight Championship at a time when the AWA stood alongside the NWA
and WWF as the Big 3 in professional wrestling in America. He also held
numerous NWA titles while wrestling in regions across the country.
However, his biggest success came in Japan. He was a huge star in Japan
throughout his entire career, holding the NWA International title once, as well
as the PWF world title four times and the Triple Crown world title four times.
The Triple Crown title was the biggest belt in All Japan Wrestling.
As for the WWE, in 1976, Pro Wrestling Illustrated named his match with Bruno
Sammartino as the Match of the Year and named Hansen the Most Hated Wrestler of
the Year the same year. Stan Hansen retired in 2001, with his final match
coming in All Japan. He remained in a non-wrestling role with the company until
2007. According to Wrestling Inc., Hansen’s picture is in the WrestleMania 32
magazine in the Hall of Fame section.
虽然有藤波跟猪木的前例,不过真没想到只在早期WWWF待过(WWF好像只待1年)生涯几乎都
在日摔的汉森阿伯今年进入名人堂..真是OMG啊...XD
