The complexion of WWE's upcoming "Survivor Series" pay-per-view has drasticall
y changed following a major injury to Seth Rollins, the reigning World Heavywe
ight Champion.
The WWE announced Rollins has been diagnosed with a torn right ACL, MCL, and m
edial meniscus following a match at a live event Wednesday in Dublin, Ireland.
The 29-year-old will miss the next 6-9 months, therefore vacating the WWE Worl
d Heavyweight Championship, according to ESPN's Jonathan Coachman.
A one-night tournament will be held at "Survivor Series" to crown a new titleh
older, but specific details - such as the combatants - haven't been announced.
It will mark the second time "Survivor Series" has held such a tournament, af
ter the "Deadly Games" from 1998 where Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson captured his
first WWE Championship.
"Survivor Series" takes place Nov. 22 from Philips Arena in Atlanta.
