莎娃退休跟Kobe有关 不刻意宣告向球迷说再见

〔体育中心／综合报导〕曾夺下5座大满贯冠军的俄罗斯前世界球后莎拉波娃（Maria Sha
rapova）昨无预警宣布退休，对于选择不在赛事中向大家告别，她做出解释，同时也提及
萌生退役念头的时间点。
莎娃接受《纽约时报》采访时说：“我不须走到球场向全世界的球迷宣告，这是我最后一
场比赛，即便是在我更年轻的时候，我也不希望是以这样的方式结束职业生涯。”
同时莎娃也提到上月澳网女单首轮不敌克罗地亚维姬琪（Donna Vekic）后便飞往洛杉
矶，也因为湖人传奇布莱恩（Kobe Bryant）的意外离世，让她意识到自己该和网球说再
见。
莎娃说：“其实原本我们约好见面，时间是科比发生坠机意外的3天后。如果某件事让你
意识到人生的意义，那这一刻你就要好好思考未来。”
莎娃也提及网球对她的人生意义，这28年的网球生涯就好像在爬一座山，现在她已做好攀
登另一座高山的准备，开启人生新篇章。

Kobe Bryant heartbreak helped Maria Sharapova with retirement decision

A number of factors influenced Maria Sharapova’s decision to retire at 32 yea
rs old, including a close relationship with Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who had
been an “incredible sounding board” throughout her career.
Bryant died at 41 in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26.
“We were supposed to see each other like three days after the crash,” Sharap
ova told the New York Times.
The tragedy helped her come to terms with retirement, a decision which she had
made on the flight home from the 2020 Australian Open. She was eliminated in
the first round on Jan. 20 against Donna Veki , and her dour post-match inter
views cast uncertainty on her future in the sport.
“It’s tough for me to tell what’s going to happen in 12 months’ time,” sh
e told reporters after the match.
It would be Sharapova’s final tour appearance.
“I think we all seem at times in our journey like larger than life because of
what we do, but everyone at the core is incredibly fragile,” she said reflec
ting on Bryant’s death. “And if anything it just opens up your eyes to what
really matters in life, so that was a moment where I had a really good think a
bout my future as well.”
