Roger Federer didn't expect at all to win so easily, 6/2 6/4 6/4, and to play
so good against the Czech Tomas Berdych. In press conference, The Swiss
player said he was very satisfied with the way he played: 'I was hoping to
play good against better ranked players because I guess I know them more and
I know these matchups so well over the years that maybe sometimes it's easier
to play against them than it is against a qualifier, somebody I've only
played a few times.'
Federer:“我本来希望可以对到排名较高的选手，因为我想我对他们比较了解，
相较于一些选手我只有打过几次，对决到这些选手我想我可以打得很好。”
'So I didn't expect it as such, to be honest, especially not this kind
of a scoreline, especially not having to save no breakpoints, just always
rolling on the serve. That was a big surprise to me. I think it was a great
mental test for me to see if I could stay in the match, point for point, keep
rolling. I was able to do that. That's where I'm just really happy that I was
able to deliver that. From the baseline, honestly I felt worlds better than
in the first couple of rounds. Yeah, it's wonderful. It's nice to do it over
best-of-five sets. Even though it wasn't five sets, but three sets, it's just
nice to know that you could do it.'

In his post-match interview, Berdych just said, I wish I was in the crowd
watching this match, not to be on the court.

In the next round Federer will play against Kei Nishikori. He doesn't know
who is the favourite, 'but he's definitely played better and more tennis in
recent months. But then again, it's a new season. We'll see what happens. But
I'm a big fan of his game. He's got one of the best backhands out there. I
love how he can crush it down the line or crosscourt. He's got wonderful
second serve returns. He's fast on his legs. Strong in his mind. I know how
tough he is as the match goes along. He finds his range and his rhythm, he's
tough to stop. It's definitely an exciting match for me, anyway.'
Federer 谈及下场的对手锦至圭。“在最近几个月他确实打得越来越好。但这是

The Japanese player admitted: 'For sure it's not going to be easy. He was
playing great tennis today. I watch7 only few points. But, you know, it's
always great to play Roger. It's big challenge for me. I'm just happy to play
him because I think we needed him on the tour. Happy to see him back a
hundred percent. Yeah, excited to play next round.'
锦织圭:“我确定这不是一场容易的比赛，他今天打出非常棒的网球，我只有看

Asked how is his physical condition, Nishikori replied: 'Not too bad.
First match was tough. After the day, I was sore little bit. But now I'm feeling
really well. These two matches help for me to being healthy. Yeah, try to
prepare well tomorrow again and ready for next match.'
谈及自己的身体状况，“还不错，第一场比赛很艰辛。在那之后有一点酸痛，但
现在我感觉非常好，前两场比赛帮助我维持健康，让我准备更充分面对明天和下一轮的
比赛。”
