Every week on wtatennis.com we'll bring you 10 Things To Know about the week
- who's playing, where and more. This week, we're at one of the biggest stops
on the Road To Singapore: Madrid.
1) This is the second-biggest clay court event of the season.
The Premier Mandatory-level Mutua Madrid Open is the second-biggest clay
court event of the season, after, of course, Roland Garros. And the Road To
Singapore could really heat up in the Spanish capital - Serena Williams and
Simona Halep will battle it out for the No.1 spot on the singles leaderboard,
while any one of four teams could emerge from the week at No.1 on the doubles
leaderboard.

Makarova and Elena Vesnina, and Caroline Garcia and Katarina Srebotnik.
