台南东区东门路二段上有一处翻修后的日式老房子建筑物群，前身为
“原台南州立农事试验场宿舍群”，创设于大正十五年（1923年），
目前为市定古蹟。
整个建筑物群共计有五栋，包括场长宿舍、
两栋丙种判任官舍及两栋丁种判任官舍。
而台南市政府文化局也将这些日式老房子与日本合作，
成为台日文化交流基地。现阶段有日本群马县的“水上町交流馆”、
“社团法人台南市台日友好交流协会”、“和茶寮”以及纳凉屋进驻
本次乐活台南本来是接到水上物语交流馆的“日本草木染”活动刊登请求，
但在还没刊出时竟然就额满了，也让站长相当讶异这个地方的活动竟然
如此热门。后来又被通知活动当天有水上町的水库咖哩分享会，
于是就在乐活美食团内揪了小团去一起去体验日式文化的魅力

只见现场不管大人或小孩，都全神贯注在自己手上的草木染作品

馆内放了很多没有点上眼睛的不倒翁，是代表日本的吉祥物之一。
据说，群马县的高崎市是制作日本不倒翁的发源地。
相传在几百年前当地淹了大水，在碓冰川上漂来一根大浮木散发出阵阵芬芳，
在地人啧啧称奇于是就拾起供奉著。
延宝八年（1680年）有一位名号为一了居士的修行者称说被神明托梦，
要将该浮木雕成达磨大师的雕像，之后达摩外观的不倒翁传说就渐渐流传起来。
而不倒翁为什么没点上眼睛呢？依据在地的习俗，
民众必须购买还未开光点睛的不倒翁，然后再请寺内的高僧点睛祈愿，
所以还点上眼睛就是尚未祈福过的不倒翁

日本的火柴业虽然也像台湾依样萧条许久，
但因日人相当着迷火柴，所以还有部分的日人依旧使用着火柴
