Summary of Job: We are hiring a PVD Engineer to be responsible for engineering r
elated aspects of Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), in a manufacturing environmen
t to include process and equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Daily control and improvement of PVD processes
Process support: Inspection of critical PVD material characteristics in daily op
erations
Equipment support: Advanced preventative maintenance and technical troubleshooti
ng
Procedures: Develop, implement process and equipment procedures
Project management: Lead new process qualification, equipment installation, etc.
Problem Solving: Identify and resolve complex problems in a systematic approach
using data-driven analysis. Follow-through actions through implementation and va
lidation
Process development: Lead process development of new PVD materials to improve pr
oduct performance
Training: Evaluate skill levels of technicians, develop training materials, coac
h and train team members for improving team and equipment performance
Equipment design: Develop design specifications for equipment supporting PVD ope
rations
Skills/Knowledge Required:
Experience with thin-film deposition or precision component fabrication tools, i
ncluding fundamental understanding of operation, process controls and programmin
g (Vacuum Systems, Gas Delivery / Distribution, Control Systems)
Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of electrical / electronic systems
Demonstrated experience in materials, materials science and/or materials chemist
ry.
Teamwork and Communication: Able to work well in a team environment and effectiv
ely communicate throughout organization
Surface damage related to PVD deposition
Lean manufacturing principles
Data analysis and related software
Qualifications
BS Engineering: Chem, Chem Engr, EE, Material Science, or Mechanical Engineering
with a minimum of 3 - 5+ years of related experience
5 - 7 years - R&D or Manufacturing environment
3 - 5 years - Project Management
Must have excellent track record in project planning, execution and delivery
Experience as an equipment engineer or field service engineering professional wh
o is - highly effective working in a team-oriented matrix organization
Experience with vacuum processing equipment, gas distribution systems, or CVD/PV
D systems preferred
