Opportunity:
At eBay, we are starting a new chapter in our iconic internet history of
being the largest online marketplace in the world. We have more than 1
billion listings with 80% of them selling new items, in over 400 markets
around the world. The collection of services runs on a significant server and
storage infrastructure, and the hardware engineering team is chartered to
drive the reliability, efficiency and performance of this layer.
We are looking for a Deep Learning (AI) Systems and Automation Engineer to
join our Hardware Engineering Team. This person will interface with the
internal eBay AI teams working on setting up the Lab and a CI/CD environment
for the AI developers for deep learning variety of hardware. They should be
able to bring up new AI servers, debug any issues of performance or stability
and contribute to our automation suite that is tailored for this AI lab. This
person will also work with the members of the hardware engineering team to
prototype, setup & run comparative tests (functional & performance).
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and participate in various industry AI fora to keep track of new
developments that would be relevant to the AI lab
Provision and monitor GPU and High-mem servers in the Lab
Setup servers with deep learning frameworks and device drivers for the AI team
Setup/Maintain Storage/NFS shares for deep learning datasets
Create and execute test plans to provide a robust and automated test pipeline
Work with internal teams to benchmark eBay applications in the lab for
performance testing
Desired Skills and Experience:
At least 5-7 years of experience with provisioning servers
At least 5-7 years of experience with DevOps Tools/Technologies like Jenkins,
Docker, Puppet, ELK & InfluxDB/Grafana
Must have deep exposure to Scripting in Bash, Python or similar scripting
languages
Experience with AI machine learning frameworks (Tensorflow, Caffe, XGBoost)
Experience with Linux, OS and BIOS
BS EE or CS with continued formal or informal education
Demonstrated oral & written communications
Position ideally based in San Jose, CA with minimal travel required
