Tuesday’s Bucks-Thunder NBA Cup Final averaged a 1.75 rating and 2.99 million v
iewers on ABC, down 29% in ratings and 35% in viewership from last year’s Pacer
s-Lakers final (2.5, 4.58M), but still the second-largest audience of the NBA se
ason. Knicks-Celtics on Opening Night had 3.01 million.

While the NBA Cup — previously the In-Season Tournament — has been widely deri
ded in its first two years of existence, it is fairly unlikely that a matchup of
Milwaukee and Oklahoma City would rank among the most-watched NBA games in any
other circumstance. (Then again, it is also unlikely that Milwaukee-Oklahoma Cit
y would ever be the only game of the night and air in primetime on broadcast tel
evision outside of a Cup scenario.)

Thursday’s Thunder-Magic NBA regular season game averaged 562,000 viewers acros
s TNT and truTV, marking the least-watched NBA game on TNT or ESPN/ABC this seas
on. Knicks-Timberwolves followed with a a 0.41 rating and 722,000, the second-le
ast watched.
Outside of Opening Week, it was the network’s first Thursday doubleheader durin
g the NFL season since 2019.
