Orthopedic surgeon says Kevin Durant likely out until Game 4 or 5 of WCF
should Warriors defeat Rockets

Dr. Alan Beyer, an orthopedic surgeon at the Hoag Orthopedic Institute in
Newport Beach, Ca., says Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant will
likely be out until Game 4 or 5 of the Western Conference Finals should the
Dubs defeat the Houston Rockets in the second round.

Durant要休息到Game 4或Game 5才可能出场打西决。
Durant suffered a mild strain on his right calf and is expected to be
re-evaluated next week. The Warriors are up 3-2 on the Rockets.
KD的右小腿有扭伤，预计下星期会再评估，目前勇士是以3-2领先火箭。
Beyer talked about Durant’s injury with Brad Rotkin of CBS Sports and says
the Warriors shouldn’t rush KD back.
Dr. Beyer讲到KD的伤势，认为勇士不应该要急着让KD上场。
“He could feasibly get back by Game 4 against Portland or Denver if he
pushed it, but now you’re risking making the injury a whole lot worse,”
Beyer said. “So let’s talk about that aspect of it.
“若是真的催一下，他是有可能可以在Game 4上场面对阿拓或是丹佛，但是那要冒着让伤
势变得更严重的风险，”他说。“所以就那方面就要好好讨论一下了。”
“Understand, a strain and tear are the same thing. So Durant has a tear in
that calf. The grading just indicates how many fibers have been affected. So
a mild strain, or a Grade 1 or 2 tear, whatever you want to call it, that is
one thing. But if he were to come back on a partially-healed calf, and then
end up tearing it all the way by landing or taking off wrong, now you’re
talking about potentially never coming back 100 percent. He would regret that
decision the rest of his career.”

The Warriors are fortunate Durant didn’t tear his Achilles. That’s the
injury everyone thought KD sustained at first.

If the Warriors get to the Western Conference Finals, it will be interesting
to see what Durant’s availability is. KD is averaging 34.2 points, 5.2
rebounds and 4.9 assists in the playoffs while shooting 51.3 percent from the
field, 41.6 percent from beyond the arc and 90.1 percent from the free-throw
line.
