Mike D'Antoni and Kevin Durant had an absurdly confusing interaction after
Game 7
Houston Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni wore his emotions on his sleeve
throughout the entire Western Conference Finals series with the Golden State
Warriors. Why wouldn’t he, though? It’s not every year your team gets one
game away from the NBA Finals.
But after the final buzzer sounded and the Warriors had eliminated the
Rockets in Game 7, D’Antoni approached superstar Kevin Durant. His message
was something along the lines of Durant and the Warriors needing to go on and
defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, at least, that’s what the
Rockets coach says.
Well, as ESPN’s Marc J. Spears revealed, Durant actually thought D’Antoni
said the Rockets would have won the series if Chris Paul played.
How you get from something like “you need to go beat the Cavaliers” to “we
would have won if Chris Paul played” might be the most impossible question
to ever answer.
As Twitter user Abdi pointed out, this may be the next hot internet topic.
But seriously, maybe one of them just isn’t owning up to the truth here.
Regardless, this is about as weird of a postgame story as you’re going to
find.
Best of luck to the Warriors in the NBA Finals, and unfortunately, we’ll
never actually know if things would have changed had Paul played.
休士顿火箭在主场不敌金洲勇士队,赛后总教练Mike D'Antoni 跟 Kevin Durant
