Rockets clinch No. 1 seed in West with Warriors' loss to Bucks
At least through the regular season, the Western Conference officially belongs
to James Harden, Chris Paul, and the Houston Rockets.
With the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors losing 116-107 to the Mil
waukee Bucks Thursday night at Oracle Arena, the Rockets have locked up the No
. 1 seed in the West and secured home-court advantage through the Conference F
inals.
This marks the first time in team history that the Rockets have clinched first
place in the West, and the first time since 2014 that a team other than the W
arriors find themselves in that position. The San Antonio Spurs were last to d
o it.
Houston currently owns a franchise-best 61-14 record, needing just two more wi
ns or two losses from the Toronto Raptors to carry over their home-court advan
tage into the NBA Finals, if they advance that far.
